Maverick, a wonderfully handsome Shepherd mix, arrived at the Southampton Animal Shelter as a stray. As with so many strays, as much as the team at the shelter hoped Maverick would be claimed, no one has come to pick him up.
Maverick is a loving guy. He’s good with other dogs, and a household with another well socialized dog would be ideal but is not a requirement. The good people at Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation feel that the shelter environment tends to overstimulate Maverick, and they believe he would thrive in a calm home with a human companion who will not over exercise him. He needs a fenced in yard. He’s strong, and if there are kids in the home, it’s best if they’re 10-years or older.
