Rick Bass is the author of over 30 books of fiction and nonfiction, including The Ninemile Wolves, Winter: Notes From Montana, and Colter: The True Story of the Best Dog I Ever Had. He is a founding board member of the Yaak Valley Forest Council (www.yaakvalley.org) and Save the Yellowstone Grizzly. He teaches at Stonecoast's low-residency MFA, and conducts private workshops. He is currently engaged in the battle to stop the proposed Black ram timber sale on the Montana-Canada border (www.protectancientforests.org). He lives in northwest Montana's Yaak Valley.
